Volatility Smile

ATM options typically have the lowest implied volatility, forming a "smile" shape as IV increases for both deep ITM and OTM strikes.

Volatility Skew

OTM puts command higher IV due to crash protection demand, creating an asymmetric skew rather than a pure smile.

Term Structure

Longer-dated options typically have higher IV due to increased uncertainty over time. Near-term IV is more sensitive to events.
